Dental Cleanings in Gaitherburg MD

At Lakeforest Dental Associates, our goal is for all of our patients to feel like family. If you are ever experiencing pain, discomfort or concern about your teeth, we always encourage you to visit our office so we can eliminate any potential problems.

The general recommendation for most patients is to have a dental exam and cleaning approximately every six months, or twice a year. While this is a good rule of thumb to follow, the number of times you should visit the dentist per year really depends on your overall health and personal dental needs.

Some people have teeth that are genetically more resilient to decay and will not need an exam quite as often as the average patient. On the other hand, some individuals are considered higher-risk and may be more prone to decay and gum disease than others. In addition to other conditions, if you are diabetic, pregnant, a smoker or currently have gum disease present in your mouth, it is recommended you visit the dentist every few months as opposed to only twice a year.

We believe in personalizing our dental treatment plans for each of our individual patients. The number of times you need to visit the dentist each year may be different from the other members of your family. If you do need to visit our office more often than average, our skilled team will work with you to determine what treatment is needed each time.

For example, some visits may be focused on cleanings and removing plaque buildup whereas other visits may be dedicated to thoroughly examining your gums or a particular area of your mouth.
